1st Cherry Burton Scouts work with over 40 young people to make a real difference to their lives teaching them vital life skills whilst having fun. Now that Scouting has restarted face to face, we are faced with extra expenditure to ensure the adult volunteers and young people are safe, whilst enjoying them selves.
1st Cherry Burton Scout Group is made up of Beavers (6-8 years), Cubs (8-10 years) and Scouts (10-14 years).
The leadership team in place have been working hard for many years to ensure that the young people have fun and develop their skills, whilst moving through the different sections as they get older. The success of the Scout Group is in the evidence of the young people earning the top awards and badges. As well as the continuous growth of the sections, whilst we are currently limited in the numbers we can have each night, we have more and more requests to join. The Scouts teaches its members vital skills for life including road safety, fire safety community awareness plus many more.
Due to the measures put in place by both the Government and the Scouts we now have incurred extra costs, which we would not normally need to pay for. These are such things like PPE and Sanitiser for both the volunteers and young people to ensure they stay safe. Lights and Extension cables to enable the use of the outdoor space even in the dark, as it is safer for everyone to be outside.
We hope that being able to provide a space for young people to grow and develop safely will have a lasting impact on their lives and will help our organisation grow and make a further difference to future Scouts lives.
